This work-in-progress is set in 1864 when plans were still taking shape to form the Dominion of Canada. Teacher Eliza Campbell is trying to save her school when no one else seems to care whether it survives or not. Meantime, Eliza’s father secretly promises her hand in marriage to the local carriage maker, Charles Rowbotham, and the resulting fireworks have nothing to do with the Charlottetown Conference celebrations!
